Choice Point: A Higher Vibration

Are you aware that we are at a critical choice point in the evolution of the human species on planet earth?
At this very moment, we have the power to self-extinct or self-evolve?

We are at the threshold of the year 2012. Some have said that 2012 marks the end of the world; Armageddon or Apocalypse. Others call it the Second Coming of Christ or the Day of Judgement. Frightening doomsday scenarios accompany these beliefs, generally perceived as inevitable. Indeed we see the breakdown of political, religious, education, economic systems and financial institutions that are no longer viable or sustainable. We also see the desperate efforts of those who are holding on, resisting change, emphatically trying to maintain the status quo, at any cost.

Are you experiencing the disintegration of things in your life? Are you trying to hold on, or are you learning to let go?

In addition we're experiencing the impacts of global warming through increasingly dramatic climate shifts and natural disasters. Witness the 2004 tsunami that hit Indonesia, Hurrican Katrina, devastating earthquakes in China and Haiti, the volcanic eruption in Iceland that disrupted international air traffic for more than a week, and the Gulf Oil catastrope that is destroying an entire ecosystem and way of life......... Weather patterns in this country and throughout the world are no longer predictable.

Does it feel to you like the world is ending?

In the midst of this, organic and collective movements are emerging around the world, organized around issues of social, economic and environmental justice; the redistribution of natural resources that support local economies, more women in leadership. In the US, we see a growing green economy, as well as more charter schools, community gardens, farmer's markets, co-housing....all grassroots efforts that are re-inventing conscious community. In addition, growing numbers of influential people in the arts, entertainment and sports are partnering with organizations and causes that seek to overcome health, education and economic disparities and help improve the quality of life for marginalized people and communities.

Finally, we cannot overlook the accelerating global impact of technology, specifically the prolific rise of social media networks like FACEBOOK, twitter, ning, youtube, plus Maestro Conference, that are bringing together people of diverse cultures, religions and even languages, into dialogue and collective action. In my mind, these are some of the signs of positive change...of people coming together for a greater good.

Stay tuned for Part II of Choice Point.....
